A title-lettering study: Marvel's Shang-Chi

Film distributors often have local design teams. International releases may arrive with editable posters, trailers, title treatments and other publicity materials, allowing local versions to be prepared and submitted for approval.

A useful starting point in localisation is to identify what gives the original title its character. In SHANG-CHI, that includes the gothic construction, measured curves and added details. Analysing those features helps a designer develop a Chinese title treatment that responds to the same visual idea.

Observation and reconstruction are useful exercises in learning Chinese title lettering. Look at lettering in other languages, such as Korean television titles, music videos and film identities. Try interpreting an existing treatment in Chinese, using its design logic as a reference rather than treating translation as a direct substitution of shapes.

You could use these examples as a lettering exercise.
